VORTEX es una instalaci\u00f3n temporal desarrollada para la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Las Am\u00e9ricas en Santiago. El proyecto explora la construcci\u00f3n de superficies espaciales mediante la teselaci\u00f3n y agregaci\u00f3n de componentes planos fabricados digitalmente.<\/span><\/p>\n

La geometr\u00eda se genera a partir de la interacci\u00f3n de tres circunferencias, cuya superficie es discretizada y traducida a un sistema de 545 piezas \u00fanicas cortadas en l\u00e1ser sobre cart\u00f3n de 300 gsm. Cada componente responde a una posici\u00f3n espec\u00edfica dentro del conjunto y se ensambla mediante un sistema de superposici\u00f3n, donde las uniones locales permiten construir una superficie continua sin utilizar conectores adicionales.<\/span><\/p>\n

Suspendida desde un anillo de terciado de 2,90 m de di\u00e1metro, la instalaci\u00f3n ocupa el vac\u00edo central del edificio entre el primer y el tercer piso, alcanzando una altura aproximada de 4 m. Esta condici\u00f3n permite que la superficie sea recorrida visualmente desde distintos niveles, revelando la variaci\u00f3n de su geometr\u00eda y la profundidad del sistema a medida que el observador se desplaza.<\/span><\/p>\n

El modelo computacional organiza la generaci\u00f3n de la superficie, la diferenciaci\u00f3n de cada componente y la informaci\u00f3n necesaria para su fabricaci\u00f3n y montaje, transformando una geometr\u00eda compleja en un sistema constructivo compuesto exclusivamente por elementos planos.<\/span><\/p>\n

VORTEX is a temporary installation developed for the School of Architecture at Universidad de Las Am\u00e9ricas in Santiago. The project investigates the construction of spatial surfaces through the tessellation and aggregation of digitally fabricated planar components.<\/span><\/p>\n

The geometry is generated from three circles and subsequently discretized into a system of 545 unique laser-cut cardboard components. Each element occupies a specific position within the assembly and connects to adjacent pieces through an overlapping joint system, allowing a continuous surface to emerge without the need for additional connectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Suspended from a 2.9 m diameter plywood ring, the installation occupies the central void of the building between the first and third floors, reaching an overall height of 4 m. This suspended condition allows the surface to be experienced from multiple levels, revealing the variation of its geometry and the depth of the system as the observer moves through the building.<\/span><\/p>\n

The computational model coordinates the generation of the surface, the differentiation of each component, and the information required for fabrication and assembly, translating a complex geometry into a construction system composed exclusively of planar elements.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
